Abell Community Survey - What would you like to improve?

The Abell Improvement Association is interested in applying for the Central Baltimore Partnership's HCPI Spruce-Up grant program. Please take five minutes to fill out the survey in the link at the bottom and share your thoughts on what you would like to see enhanced in our community if we are successful in our grant application. These ideas are for the preliminary proposal and if we are accepted to complete the full application we will meet with neighbors to brainstorm and come to agreement on details.

Four current ideas:

1. Lighting Improvements in the Abell Neighborhood (enhancement of current lighting in our community)

2. 32nd Street Open Space Improvements to create a more inviting and inclusive space for the community (artwork, redesigning/renovating the play equipment, and making the park more inviting and inclusive for multiple uses)

3. Tree Well Improvements to enhance and protect our neighborhood tree canopy (widening existing tree wells, tree care and maintenance, and other greening projects for tree wells)

4. Abell Community creative placemaking (art to highlight our community's unique physical and social character; perhaps a neighborhood sign, neighborhood art, or creative cross-walk designs to help delineate the Abell community)

More information and details can be found on the Central Baltimore Partnership Spruce Up Grant Information website- http://www.centralbaltimore.org/our-work/programs/hcpi-spruce-up/

Creative Placemaking is defined by the National Endowment for the Arts here - https://www.arts.gov/sites/default/files/CreativePlacemaking-Paper.pdf

"In creative placemaking, partners from public, private, non-profit, and community sectors strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, city, or region around arts and cultural activities. Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired."
