Kitty's Lounge - protest renewal of liquor license?

Writer's picture: Teresa PfaffTeresa Pfaff

Dear neighbors,

Neighborhood residents have brought to my attention that there is some support to protest the renewal of the liquor license for the business known as Kitty's Lounge, a bar and package store located at 3208 Greenmount Avenue.

Kitty's Lounge is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The executive committee of Abell Improvement Association will discuss protesting the license renewal at the next meeting, Saturday, March 14, 9:30, at 3212 Abell Ave.

Do you have an opinion? We must file a protest by March 31st if we want the license to expire on April 30th.

I am gathering information regarding past complaints.

According to the Baltimore City Liquor License Board website (https://llb.baltimorecity.gov/renewal), “All holders of alcoholic beverage license in Baltimore City must file a renewal application between March 1 and March 31 of every year…”

The website says regarding a protest of renewal: "By Law, a protest against the renewal of a license must be filed at least 30 days before the license expires on April 30th. All protests must be received at the Board’s office by 4 p.m. on March 31st and must be signed by not less than ten residents, commercial tenants (who are not holders or applicants for any liquor license), or real estate owners in the immediate vicinity where the licensed place of business is located. Protests must be based on specific complaints as to the operation of the establishment."

Let me know if you have an opinion on this.

Thank you,

Maureen Daly, President of the Abell Improvement Association
