The AIA sponsors several events throughout the year. Here is our calendar at a glance.

 

Quarterly Membership Meetings

The AIA holds 4 quarterly Membership Meetings throughout the year - usually in January, April, August and November, two on a weekday evening, and two on Saturday mornings. If you would like to request an agenda item, please send your request to president@abellimprovement.org two weeks prior to the scheduled meeting.

2026 Membership Meeting dates

  • Saturday, January 24 - 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., St. Moses Church

  • Wednesday, April 22 - 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

  • Saturday, August 22 - 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

  • Monday, November 2 - 6:00 p.m.; potluck with Harwood and Charles Village

Monthly Executive Committee Meetings

Our executive committee meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Thesmeetings are open to all community members.

Neighborhood Newsletters

Newsletters are published and delivered to all properties within the Abell community between 4 and 6 times a year.

Deadlines for newsletter submissions:

  • January 17, Winter Issue

  • April 12, Spring Issue

  • July 12, Summer Issue

  • October 11, Fall Issue

Community Dumpsters for 2026 - TBD​​

Dumpsters or trucks are usually placed at 31st Street near the corner of Abell Avenue. They arrive around 7-8 a.m. and remain until around noon, or until filled. No hazardous materials, please.​

Spring Cleanup - a Saturday in April 

Neighborhood Safety Walks - walks are monthly on the third Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. during spring, summer and fall. Gather at the Open Space on 32nd St. near Abell Avenue.

Community Sidewalk Sale - a Saturday in May

Memorial Day Picnic - the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend 

Porch Prom - a Saturday evening in late May or early June

Free Outdoor Film Series - summer or fall evenings at sundown in the Open Space, 32nd Street between Abell and Guilford

Street Fair - a Sunday in September from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Chili Cook-off - a Sunday in early October

Parking Permit & Pass RenewalRenew online at https://pabc.thepermitstore.com beginning October 1 for permits valid through October 31 of the following year

Potluck and Community Meeting with the Harwood and Charles Village Communities - a weeknight in early November

Fall Clean-up 

Holiday Caroling - usually the Sunday before Christmas.

New Years Eve Progressive Dinner - December 31
