29th Street Community Center Reopens for Summer Program

The 29th Street Community Center will reopen for a five week summer program starting on Monday, July 13 until Friday, August 14 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. each week day.

  • Summer Program: The Center will provide a limited number of Pre-K - 8th grade students from our after school program and community with a summer program that includes indoor and outdoor activities that will revolve around tutoring, mentoring, arts and crafts, as well as non-competitive skill-based sports. Center staff will rely on strict CDC guidelines for operation of the building.

  • Grab and Go Lunch Site: The Center has been approved for the Summer Food Service Program and will pass out lunch and snacks to our summer program participants as well as youth and families from the community. We have also applied for funding for students in our summer program as well as children and families from the community to receive weekly home learning kits.

  • YouthWorks: The Center will host 10 YouthWorkers over the summer to provide professional and leadership development for high school aged youth who have grown up and live in the community as a virtual employment site.

Community Support

  • The Community Center is partnering with the Abell/Charles Village Mutual Aid Group to provide a centralized location for volunteers to access and distribute donated supplies and prepared meals to community members in need.

  • A pop-up donation store is being held at the Center where community members can stop by to pick up free food, hygiene items, personal protective equipment, baby products, and clothing (Monday-Wednesday 11:00 AM-6:00 PM)
